Ingredients

4 large pears
½ tsp vanilla essence
30 cl liquid cream
¼ t sp ground cinnamon
55 g sugar
1 pinch grated nutmeg
1 tsp fresh grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  2. Lightly grease a large tin.
  3. Peel the pears, slice them lengthwise and remove the seeds.
  4. Put them in the tin, heart-side down in one layer.
  5. Mix the double cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
  6. Pour on the pears.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 min, stirring occasionally. Switch off when the pears are soft and brown and the cream mixture is bubbly. Allow to cool.
