Béchamel sauce

Béchamel sauce

This classic béchamel sauce is smooth, creamy, and perfect as a base for countless dishes. Made by combining melted butter and flour, then slowly enriching it with warm milk, the sauce thickens into a silky consistency with gentle cooking. A touch of salt, pepper, and nutmeg brings out its delicate flavour, making it ideal for gratins, pasta bakes, lasagna, and comforting casseroles.
